Easter 2014

We spent a wonderful Easter weekend with Dad, Janet, and Sherry!  I was a wee bit light-headed, but that means I'll only load 20 pictures on here instead of 100 :)

Friday Clyde and Grandad investigated some rather interesting snakes in Clyde's favorite snake book.

Saturday afternoon, they all opened their Easter baskets.

The annual jump-over-Grandad's-creek picture to get to Grandmom's famous egg hunt!

kids and their crazy number of eggs!

Grandad totes Clyde away with his mower, to which Clyde gleefully succumbs.

Sunday morning they sang 'Lord I Lift Your Name On High' at the church.

After worship, the church hosted another egg hunt...

Sherry and I took individual pictures and a group shot.  This year, she took the cake in the individuals, but I am rather happy with my group shot!
We had a great Easter celebrating our Lord's resurrection with our family!!

HE IS RISEN!!

The Pied Piper

Lucy's drama class put on a production of a rather comical version of the 'Pied Piper.'  We saved QUITE a few seats since we invited grandparents, Sherry & David and several of Lucy's friends.  I think we took up a chunk of 17ish seats!

The character she portrayed was 'Dilly, the assistant exterminator.'  I know I'm biased, but she really did a great job.  She had her lines memorized early, and was very enthusiastic :)  She really enjoyed the experience and is rather disappointed that drama collides with her math class next year :(

Here she is with her overly abundant stage make-up, waiting until she's supposed to hide behind the curtain until the play starts.  She got this acting bug from her father who was in a total of five plays himself.  She got MUCH more nervous than she thought she would!  It was very contagious and I started getting nervous for her!  But her daddy told her it would dissipate on stage, and he was right!

Then the play began....

Afterwords, she posed with friends and siblings...

My picture of she and Sherry didn't turn out like I thought it did...    :(  But trust me, Sherry WAS there!

Grandmom & Grandad made the hour and a half round trip!!

And Nena & Papa stayed up well past their bed time!!

And here WE are, her proud peeps :)

Little siblings are so easy to entertain anymore ;)

She did SO great!  Even the little kids were bummed when it was over!

Grandmother

This morning, Papa and his three sisters lost their mom.  She was a quiet, funny, orderly and proper lady who loved God.  She has served many people, particularly the deaf and children, throughout her life.  She was always sweet and precious to my sister, myself and my kids.  She has exchanged  letters with my kids,  for a while she and Clyde wrote back and forth quite a bit.  The kids are sad, as are Stephen and I.  And Papa is so very sad.  And we are sad for Papa.  But we know she's been ready to go.  And now she is with her God and her husband and we are thankful to have known her.

Bestemar means Grandmother in Norwegian.  Oldemar means great-Grandmother.

Nena's & Papa's Yard

On a warm-but-not-too-warm Thursday, we went to Nena's and Papa's and played outdoors more than usual :)

Here, Papa is explaining the rules of how to play horseshoes.  He apparently spent MANY days playing this with his papa and other relatives growing up.

Spring Birthdays

We planned to celebrate Nena's and David's birthdays together Sherry & David's house.  We got  there, brought in the cake and presents, and Lucy promptly got VERY sick.  So we left.

After we left, Sherry took a couple of pics...

For those of you who are interested, after a few years of experimenting on my mom and surveying her, the results are as follows:  the correct amount of walnuts in a carrot cake are slightly more than 5x the amount called for in a given recipe ;)
