Our Lives Recently

Aside from the last two entries (which I posted in the last 24 hours) it's been a while since I've posted anything.  So...here's a quick summary of life here, lately ....

I sat down one day to grade Clyde's science workbook.   He was supposed to come get me if he had trouble understanding the question...but apparently it was just easier to write "I dot no"....translation (I don't know).

We had a couple of stained glass butterflies left over from Iris's party.  Clyde decided to make one (even though it was too girly for his taste).  I thought it was very cute that he sat with his nose pressed to the oven door to watch it bake.  He actually sat there for awhile observing the little plastic "sprinkles" melting together.

The boy's pretty impressive when it comes to killing green pigs.  Apparently he had creamed all the levels (pretty quickly), but now angry birds has sent out an update....so, not to worry.

Lucy designed a doll ice-skating costume out of an old t-shirt sleeve, some stickers and some ribbon.  She also put cardboard "blades" on the bottom of her boots, but I didn't get a pic of  THAT part.

For a girl who's (thankfully) not too into "dolling" herself up, her make-up girl sketchpad (which she bought with her own money) is ....um....pretty dolled up.

Lucy's very first french braid.  And her skills are improving mightily.

The ferrets got baths (cause one of them stuck her head in a plunger...so that just ruined things for everybody)  :)

Daddy & Daddy's girl...

There have been lots of interesting hair pieces making their debut in the hair of "the baby".  I love how she wears  her galoshes all the time :)

Iris has found a new amusement involving a ferret (either will do) and a Lalaloopsy bus...

She recently bought a tea set from the dollar store.  Her siblings very agreeably allowed her to serve them tea.

And there you have a glimpse (or twelve)  into our everyday lives :)  Thanks for taking the time to know us better!

Testing

It was bittersweet.

Bitter because ...it IS testing.  And it did cause tears, frustration and the pounding of small heads on wooden furniture out of sheer hopelessness.

But sweet because we were CONSTANTLY with dear friends for over a week!

Pierce cooking the test-takers a snack.

Obviously, Lucy was REALLY stressed ;)  I think she may have actually enjoyed it a little.  As soon as she finished a section, she would retreat and read near a sunny window.

Clyde, SO RELIEVED to have a moment of respite, entertains one sweet toddler :)

Still, I can't believe I'm just now getting around to posting this.  I thought I'd surely do it the moment it was over, in celebration.

 Now...awaiting the results.

Au Naturale

Iris got mad at her Daddy for not allowing her to wear make-up (except for powder and lip-gloss) in public, due to her being SIX.

I took a picture.

We are looking forward to her teenage years ;)

VALENTINE'S DAY :)

I always LOVE Valentine's Day!  It's really so much more fun now that I have kids than it ever was before :) !!!

But normally (since they don't go to school and can't do the 'traditional' valentine swap there, I host a party.  We were just WAY too worn out on parties after 'Birthday Season'...so we opted out this year.

I was happy with this decision at FIRST, but as V-day got closer, I started getting bummed.  So Stephen took me on a date and we picked out Valentine presents for each of the kids (we don't normally do this).  And then I helped the kids make valentines for family (and a few friends).

Clyde's valentines (those are up-cycled heart-shaped crayons glued onto those cards).....

Iris's valentines.....

Lucy's valentines....

and then Lucy made some special heart-shaped tea bags and put them in little heart-shaped pockets for her Colonial school-mates

I PLANNED on having heartshaped eggs & panera bread muffins for breakfast...however, the heart-shaped part didn't quite work out...so we just had eggs and panera bread muffins for breakfast...on Nana's china.....WITH Nana!! :)

Clyde opened his present first...records!!!  (or I guess I should say 'vinyl')

Lucy next...knitting book and yarn!!!

Iris really wanted to last...Lala Loopsy doll and Lala Loopsy lunchbox (in which to keep lalaloopsies) !!!

It's been fun so far and it's only 9am!!

Fiona's Bowling Party

One of Lucy's best friends just had a birthday and invited Lucy to her bowling party.  Thought I'd share some pics, cause they're cute....and so her sweet mother can copy them off of here if she so desires :)

First they ate at Chik-fil-A....

Hugs after opening gifts....

Present from Mommy & Abba

Cake!!...

Time to bowl....

We had SO much fun and were honored to be there!!  Thank you, Fiona (and S&P) for allowing us to celebrate with you!

Clyde hangs with Sherry & David

Clyde had the delightful opportunity to spend the night with Sherry & David....two of his FAVORITE people!

First he played tennis/raquetball with Sherry...

Then he tossed a ball for Rambler....

Then he watched tv with David....it appears their silliness escalates in front of a camera :)
