A 10 Year Old's Sleepover

Yep, folks....this one's gonna be long too !

We've spent an entire evening with six 9-11 year old girls (and one that's 5) and we haven't had a bit of bickering or drama.  They have been a sheer pleasure and have kept me smiling for the last several hours!

The girls' table....

The doll's table (yes, those are real miniature brownies)....

The eagerly waiting birthday girl (this picture makes her look so small)....

Smiles!  They complimented every little detail and were such little joys!  Lucy's dinner choice:  pasta w/ fresh bacon bits & blackberry soda....dessert is brownies, pomegranate, raspberries and blueberries w/ your choice of hot peach or blueberry tea.  pass the sugar, please!

Sipping tea!

The dolls had everything their mothers had (and the mom's MAY have helped them finish it off).

Ellie whispering to Jessica-Anne.  I think Jessica-Anne was nervous sitting there with all these new dolls she didn't know!

Happy Birthday to You...Happy Birthday to You!....

Happy Biiiiiiiirthday dear, Lucy!  Happy birthday to you!!

Painting flower vases for their dolls....

The flower vases...

May I introduce you to Lilly & Elizabeth, Fiona & Cordelia, Shannon & Rebecca, Meg & Felicity, Lucy & Felicity, Ellie & Jessica Anne and Iris & Leonora Leonore

Making house slippers for the dolls....
(By the way, Lilly here, reported that God officially gave her her first miracle today.  You see, she had a migraine and wasn't going to be able to come.  Meg had already left for the party and Lilly was praying as hard as she could that God would heal her headache so she could too.  Well, He did and Grandpa came back for her and we're just all so glad!!)

 Even Cashew got some!

Stephen medicated several little fingers...they got a little over-eager with the hot glue gun...

Tying knots in the fleece to make doll sleeping bags while watching the Samantha movie (some were more interested in the movie than others)....

Reading their way closer to sleepy-land...

Well, some of them read...some decided to use a mini projector instead (yes...in bed).

And....they're out!

Meg and Lil (because unltimately, when you're tired...you stick with who's familiar ;)....

Lu and Fiona...

Ellie and Shannon...

Nightie-night folks!!

A Thank You Note

While pulling the girls' birthday gifts out of the boxes, I started thinking about how much fun they were going to have playing with them.  And I thought what a shame it was that those who purchased the gifts probably wouldn't get to see what the girls picked out.

What happened next was a lot of fun...and my dear husband may have actually snickered at me!

THANK YOU, Uncle Brent & Aunt Dyan, Uncle Bobby and Uncle John!!!

You got Lucy this....
Felicity's pet, Coconut, pet bed, chew toy, and food dish.  And a doll hair brush (people brushes tear doll hair).  She loves all of it and has had it on her wish list for awhile!

You got Iris this...
Rollerblades, helmet, wrist guards and knee pads.  She can't believe they really roll and can't wait to play with them!

THANK YOU, Aunt Rita & Uncle Allen!!!

You got Lucy this....
a suitcase (that has lined pouches inside and zips open), an ID tag, a passport, plane tickets, baggage claim tickets, a traveler's wallet and stickers from the countries she visits.  This has also been on her wishlist for awhile!

You got Iris this....
a depression era, homebuilt scooter with room for Leonora Leonore's bunny, Nutmeg.  She has looked longingly at this for awhile in the catalog. :)

THANK YOU, NeNa and Papa...

You got Lucy this...
A bowling outfit, bowling ball and pins, a miniature doll for Felicity to play with, a car booster seat for Felicity, and underwear.  She was very bouncy tonight in anticipation of playing with it all tomorrow.

You got Iris this...
A vanity and mirror, a salon stool, fingernail polish, nail files, nail snippers and a miniature doll for Leonora Leonore to play with.

Thank you all!!  They had a blast and are really going to enjoy this for a long time.  (and I may have enjoyed it a tiny bit, too!)  ;0)

A Very Girly B-day Dinner

This is a LONG post.  The sweet girls in this post have relatives who read this and want ALL the details....so....

Today we all headed out of town for a NeNa and Papa sponsored birthday dinner for Iris & Lucy.  And since American Girl seems to be the theme of all their play for the past year (or two), that is, of course, where they chose to eat.

The Girls took great care picking out their outfits and hairstyles for themselve and their dolls, since today was so special!

They shopped until we all about dropped.  They have very different styles of shopping.  Iris wants everything, we then proceed to carry everything around the whole store and she has to weed out the things she wants the least.  Lucy works the whole store over before hesitantly  picking out a few well thought out items.  After all the mad shopping, here are Mom and Sherry holding Felicity, Octavia and Leonora Leonore while we wait to eat.

the long-suffering brother....who could have had a respite with Daddy and Papa (who temporarily ventured to a more masculine store) but he valiantly stuck by his sisters

The excited birthday girls, eagerly seated with their dolls...

Iris and Leonora Leonore...

Lucy and Felicity...

Group shot...

Lucy looking pleased with her Learning Express card from Sherry & David....

Iris looking like she couldn't be more shocked that Sherry & David would get her a Learning Express gift card...

Clyde got Lucy and cookie book w/ cookie cutters, and he got Iris a ballerina sticker book...I think they liked them :)  He done good.

Lucy got Iris a Barbie book.

Iris got Lucy the 'Meet Kanani' book.

Stephen and I got them Webkinz....cuz the world just might end if their accounts expire ;)

We all sang Happy Birthday over raspberry sorbet and a sugar cookie....

Clyde got in on the action with a banana split!

Then came the moochers...

More sweet shots....

When we got home they fell into bed...

They left me with the responsibility of putting Leonora Leonore, Felicity and Octavia to bed.  Which, I thought I did very well, if I do say so myself!  (Notice the sleeping mask and teddy bear Lucy made for Felicity....so sweet!)  You'll see just how much I reverted to my girlhood tonight if you read the next post ;)

It was a lovely time....thanks, NeNa and Papa!!!
