Surprise, Iris!! Happy 7th Birthday!!

Typing that title seemed crazy.  HOW can she be seven?

When Lucy turned seven, she had 11 girls come over!!  Iris, my social butterfly, totally shocked me when she informed me that she only wanted to invite four friends, because big parties are just too loud and busy!

And after seeing Lucy & Clyde get a surprise party this year, she wanted one of those too!

Well, it wasn't hard to figure out EXACTLY what she wanted, on account of her constantly telling me.  She wanted her four best friends to shoot bows & arrows and watch BRAVE with her.

The first problem, however, was having the party at all.  I postponed once due to possible tornadoes, then again do to sickness...then the day finally came!

My next dilemma was dessert!  Iris let Lucy choose the dessert for their birthday dinner, so I really wanted her to have her very favorite dessert for her party.  Her very favorite dessert is the Cheesecake Factory blueberry, white chocolate cheesecake that Barnes & Noble sells by the slice.  First of all, we only get a dessert this Lucy-unfriendly for VERY special occasions.  B&N told me I could just call and let them know how many slices I needed.  However, the morning of the party, they informed me they had stopped selling it for the season.  I'm ashamed to admit that I freaked out a little.  I posted my problem on FB and was given great advice by many, but ultimately rescued by my brother-in-law's sister, Karen, who told me that that cheesecake could be found at Sam's Club.

Disaster averted ;)

My sister came "to watch Iris do gymnastics", while Lucy, Clyde & I left gymnastics early to "take them to a playdate."

What we really did was rush to Party City to get balloons, and then rush to Red Robin, Iris's FAVE, to make weird requests of their hostess and waiters, and give them a chance to earn a nice tip!  Kudos, Red Robin, Kudos!!  They were very gracious.  They agreed to serve drinks and meals in the BRAVE cups and plates I brought and everything!

After the guests arrived, Sherry brought Iris in and gave the hostess the code phrase, "Can you seat us near the chicken?"

This signaled the hostess to bring them around the way that we would most easily surprise Iris.  Then we popped up and yelled "SURPRISE!"  First she had a look of sheer shock, then it eased into a big grin....this pic was right in between.

While we waited for our food, Iris opened the gifts from her friends...
(you'll notice her hair whispies getting static-pulled toward the balloons!)
Iris & Katie....

Iris and Sylvia...

Iris and Teva...

Iris and Land...

We ate dinner, then she blew out her candles...

This is when she realized what her candles were sticking out of..."Mom!  Look!  It's my blueberry cheesecake I like!"

Others enjoying the cheesecakes and cupcakes...

Here's Iris with all her friends!

She had a great time, but what she didn't know was that it wasn't over yet!  For over a year, she has been BEGGING me to take her "jumping at the mall."  And for over a year, I have put her off.

So, here she is jumping..

Sylvia jumping..

Katie jumping...

It's nice to have older siblings, because they can entertain you and your friends while you wait in line.

Teva jumping...

Land jumping...

Clyde jumping..

One of his 25 flips...

How do I  know it was 25 flips?  Because his fanclub clapped and screamed the count as he flipped...

Still the fun wasn't over!  We came home and watched BRAVE...

We actually slept some at this sleepover.  Teva was the last to succumb at 11pm, and Land was the first to start chirping at 7:30am...

Then we woke up the next morning to perform the much anticipated ARCHERY!!

Happy Birthday, Baby Girl!!  You're Mommy's crazy joy!
