Universal Day 1

Backposting for November 2017

None of us had ever been to Universal before, so we were SO EXCITED.  The kids wore their "we're just here for our muggle studies" shirts, and the adventure began...

Universal is divided into three parks.  The two dry parks are Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios.  We spent day 1 just in Islands of Adventure, although you can buy a ticket to both and ride the Hogwart's Express from one park to another.  We did end up trying that on day 2.  I highly recommend it, if you're a Harry Potter fan!!!

On our way in, we stopped for a quick group pic before we enter the park...

We book it through Seuss Landing so we can get to the Harry Potter area quickly.  But as we went, everyone was admiring the view...

And then we get our first glimpse of Hogsmeade!!!!

Nena and Papa in front of Hogwarts... which contained our first ride, Forbidden Journey.  It was Ahhh-mazing!

Next was Flight of the Hippogriff.  This was an adorable little coaster, which I quite enjoyed.  Really, I could've ridden it all day!  There's Nena and Lu in the 2nd row...

and me and Iris, with Clyde behind us...

In the line for Flight of the Hippogriff, we got to see Hagrid's hut.  We were so excited we were bouncing.  😁

It was so great, we had to ride it again!!

Of course, I needed a very necessary Hogwart's pic.

The whole time we had been riding stuff, Iris had been DESPERATE to visit Honeyduke's!!  We FINALLY let her...

Iris purchasing candy from Honeyduke's, including a chocolate frog!

The shops and little shows in Hogsmeade were all really beautiful and fun!  The bathrooms are even well though out and entertaining!  I'm serious!

Next stop was Jurassic Park!  The amazing music contributed to the atmosphere!

Papa and Sherry stopping for a snack...

On the Jurassic Park ride, Iris was pretty nervous.  She kept expecting the drop to happen suddenly, without warning...

it was a very pretty ride...
and look at my adventurous Momma!

This is AFTER the drenching drop!

Next we went into Toon Lagoon where everything looks like it's in a comic strip...
The girls were dancing with Stephen to the fun music during a restroom break.

ha!

Dudley Do-right's boat-shoot is super fun!

Then Popeye's River Raft...

The Next area of the park was Marvel Super Hero Island, which really deserves more than one pic, it is a really neat section and everything looks like it belongs in a comic book.

But this coaster was the COOLEST part of the Marvel area.  It may actually be the most intense coaster I've ever been on, and I've been on some!  Stephen, Clyde and I rode it.

Here are Nena and Papa...

After Marvel, we circled back through Seuss Landing and got a group pic!

Then we rode the little Seuss train thingy that goes up over the park.  It's a really cute ride.

And those are some of the highlights, though certainly not everything from our first day at Universal!

Back to the house we went, to rest up for another day.
